From 2009 to 2015, Audi equipped its entire range (A1, A3, A4, A6, A8, Q5, Q7, ...) with a series of truly powerful navigation systems featuring a wide range of functions. The MMI 3G family brings versatility and unique characteristics to a saturated market like automotive navigation.
There are three types of navigators in the family:
- MMI 3G BASIC. This is the most basic version, using a DVD disk or an SD card for route calculations and features fewer capabilities than its counterparts.
- MMI 3G HIGH. This version uses a hard drive for navigation data, which can also be used to store our own music collection.
- MMI 3G PLUS. This retains the features of the MMI 3G HIGH and adds greater connectivity, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and even the use of Google Earth for navigation.
The great features of this series of systems are, at the same time, their greatest strength and their biggest weakness. Their enormous complexity makes them susceptible to breakdowns, issues in reading optical media, failures in SD card detection, freezes in navigation or media screens, etc. At Jysa, we have worked hard to be able to test and repair these systems with professionalism and efficiency. We can see a sample of the equipment for repairing these units in the following video:
